    The modern scientific method of botanical classification in all its order and precision was created by the great Swedish naturalist Carl von Linne, or Linneaus (1707 1778). In the years following the 1735 publication of his Systema Naturae, other eminent botanists of the day devised their own systems of classification for plant life. However, none of these systems have equaled Linneaus' own creation.
