    Manu Parekh is a contemporary Indian artist who painted a series of paintings on the holy city of Banaras. His work is symbolic of tensions in Indian society and has been executed in what is known as the Indian Expressionist style. There are 14 essays written by eight contributors in this book on the Banaras paintings. Thematic issues such as landscape, the use of red, and moonlight are treated along with an interview with Parekh.
